Now, you wouldn’t really ask 175 questions during a job interview, however it always helps to have a list handy.

Job Mob created a list of 175 potential questions to ask during a job interview, broken into the following categories: questions about the job itself; questions about the company; questions about the boss; questions about the team; and questions about feedback and next steps. While the questions refer to employers as companies, these questions can be asked at nonprofits, too! Below are a few of our favorites.

Questions about the job itself |

"What would you consider to be the most important aspects of this job?"

"What types of skills do you NOT already have on board that you’re looking to fill with a new hire?"

"How would you define “success” for this position?"

"What particular aspects about my background and experience interest you?"

"Does anything cause you concern about my candidacy?"

Questions about the organization |

"Why do you think people leave this company?"

"What would you say is the most important aspect of your company culture?"

"Can you please tell me how your career has developed at this organization? Would someone entering the firm today have similar opportunities?"

Questions about next steps |

"Is there anything you’d like me to clarify or explain in more detail?"

"Is there anything you’d like me to clarify or explain in more detail?"

"What additional information can I provide about my qualifications?"

"When can I expect to hear from you?"

"May I contact you if any further questions arise?"

Read all of the questions at Job Mob.

In general, we love questions that allow you to clarify expectations of the role and the hiring process, and learn more about an organization’s culture. Check out this conversation to see a few other questions that fellow Idealists love to ask.
