One thing we love about our community is the wide range of people and places it represents; after all, with over 9,000 jobs and 70,000 organizations on our website from around the world, we’re a pretty diverse group! But there are some places we want to strengthen our relationship with and help the nonprofit community in those areas thrive. So who’s using Idealist to hire people and make a difference in the Pelican State?
- City Year is an education-focused, nonprofit organization that partners with public schools to help keep students in school and on track to graduate. They fulfill their mission by bringing together teams of young AmeriCorps members who commit to a year of full-time service in schools. In addition to looking for next year’s corps members (due April 30th for Baton Rouge and New Orleans and check out the great blogs about their experiences!), they are hiring two Program Managers.
- New Orleans Workers’ Center for Racial Justice is dedicated to: (1) Organizing workers across race and industry; (2) Advancing racial justice; (3) Building grassroots worker leadership, power and participation; (4) Building powerful multiracial alliances; (5) Building towards a just reconstruction of New Orleans. They are hiring an Administrative Assistant and an Immigrant Justice Organizer.
- The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Baton Rouge is dedicated to finding a cure and improving the quality of life for the 30,000 children and young adults who are afflicted with cystic fibrosis. They are looking for a Special Events Logistics Specialist to help plan events.
