Each day over 100,000 people visit looking for opportunities to make a difference. A large number of these people are job seekers. And while we have over 8,000 jobs around the world for people to explore, finding the right job requires more than a search; it also requires support.

To that end, we are now launching Idealist Careers. Here, you can find resources, stories, and tips to help you both find a job and succeed in the one you have. To start, check out these strategies on how to recharge your job search this year. Or, explore some best practices on how to set and reach your career goals.

Want to hear from fellow Idealists? Lisa, a job seeker, wants to help fellow job-seekers find new careers and Jose, a blogger and middle school math teacher, gives advice on how to stay passionate about your work when change seems so far away.

Have a second? Let us know where you are in your career by completing the short poll to the right. And if you want to write for us, just send us a note.

We’re looking forward to connecting with you on this blog. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

  1. Ms. Jones,

I have been a professional community and political organizer for over 20 years. I have found job leads through and I have found candidates for positions on as well.

I think your new Idealist Careers project needs to focus not just on the 20ish candidate looking for a new position but needs to speak to the experienced professional as well. Because, believe it or not, we make significant job changes too. We have particular mid-career struggles all our own.

Lastly, I think it would be good if your “beginning career” people could hear from people who have hired – and do supervise – as to who they are looking for and why.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity for input.

    • Hi Nathan,

Thanks so much for your comment. Absolutely, the conversation must encompass the various experiences of the Idealist community. To start, we have a column targeted at mid-career professionals and a partnership with Encore Careers to share advice for job seekers over 50. As the blog progresses, we’ll be sure to develop these stories more and will continue to invite the input of our community.
