Nonprofit Jobs For Foodies

Ahh, summer time. ‘Tis a season of outdoor grilling, evening strolls with ice cream cones, picnics in parks and…watermelon! In other words: a time of wonderful food. If you’re someone who not only delights in summertime edibles, but who feels passionately about food throughout all seasons, these food-related jobs may be just the thing for your appetite!

It’s always great to start the day off with some good eggs! But really: Good Eggs is a social enterprise that delivers food from local farmers and foodmakers right to people’s homes. Join them in their mission to sustain local food systems around the world. They’re currently hiring for several different positions in Brooklyn, New Orleans, and San Francisco, ranging from operation managers to inventory control managers.

Another food-based organization is one you may already know about: FoodCorps. This nonprofit focuses on creating scalable solutions to childhood obesity and food insecurity. They too are hiring for multiple positions in multiple locations! They need a director of individual giving, a national program coordinator, a human resources coordinator, and more.

If you’ve got a penchant for global cuisine, you may want to join the World Food Program to tackle the issue of global hunger. Based in Washington, DC, they’re currently hiring for a database administrator. Or perhaps your prefer learning about food more than eating it? If so, the International Food Policy Research Institute is also hiring in DC. They have over 11 available jobs!

Over in New York, GrowNYC has a holistic program to address food and all its realms: from growing community gardens to providing access to local food to classroom education, they’ve got quite the spread! If this sounds like something you’d want seconds of, check out their job openings for a receptionist and a Green Beetz school manager.

Want to be an earth angel? No, this post didn’t suddenly turn into spam: it’s a real job! Project Angel Food cooks and hand delivers over 10,000 healthy, nutritious, and nourishing meals every week to people who are too sick to shop and cook for themselves. You can join their amazing project by being one of their angels in this food truck coordinator job.
