Idealist is a global resource, with listings and users in over 200 countries and resources in three languages. In recognition of our international nature, check out the following opportunities from all over the world.

The United Kingdom is home to over 100,000 registered charities, so if you’re thinking about working in Europe, it’s a good place to start.

Continental Europe has plenty of social impact opportunities as well.

There are over 2,000 jobs, internships, and volunteer opportunities in Africa currently posted on Idealist. The second-largest continent offers plenty of chances to get involved with a good cause.

The most populous continent is a place of dramatically different cultures and geography, a fact that is reflected in the opportunities available in Asia on Idealist.

North America and South America

With so many opportunities, it may be hard to choose just one. Remember, if you’re interested in volunteering abroad, we have an info center dedicated entirely to that topic. Good luck, and happy travels!

About Author

I'm a Community Manager at Idealist, and I'm originally from Connecticut. I started working at Idealist four years ago after jumping around from NYC, Alaska, Argentina, and back to NYC. I love helping people use Idealist seeing the range of nonprofits that exist in the world! I like to travel, brew beer, cook, and play hockey. I should probably live in Portland, but for now I'm in New York.

  1. For many of these organizations, especially European ones, lack of a work permit precludes the ability to apply for employment. If one is a non-EU/EC resident, does anyone have any advice for applying for NGO work in the UK or elsewhere in the region?
