We talk a lot about how networking is key to a successful job search…that doesn’t mean it’s our favorite activity to do. Part of the discomfort comes from not knowing what you have to offer to your network. We are also uncomfortable with the idea of taking advantage of people in order to find an opportunity.

However, maybe we have networking all wrong? In this video, career coach J.T. O’Donnell talks about why viewing networking as a one-way transaction makes networking painful and steps we can take to cultivate long-lasting relationships with others.
